In my last post (Creating Sanctuary: Bringing the Light Indoors) I talked adding light to our living room by fitting our unused TV alcove with a beautiful old mirror given to me by my son. As it turned out, mounting this heavy old mirror was a bit of an undertaking but I feel it was well worth the effort!
Mirrors are a wonderful way to amplify light and a really good one has a silvery magical quality that makes us feel almost as if we are looking into another world. My original idea was to make a kind of mini hearth using candles instead of a fireplace but this has turned more into a mystical altar type space.
I'm not done with it, so I'll post more pics as it evolves!
